Biographical Sketch - Garen Wolf

Garen L. Wolf –

  • BMEd (Bachelor of Music Education, Voice Major; M.M. (Master of Music, Voice Emphasis) Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg Kansas.
  • Professor Wolf has done post graduate work at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Missouri, and the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio.
  • While in graduate school he was the University Reserve Officer Training Corps Band commander.
  • He held graduate assistantships in choral conducting, was the assistant conductor of the University Choir and the Graduate Chamber Singers, and was an undergraduate Instructor of Introduction to Music Literature.
  • He holds memberships in: Phi Mu Alpha Symphonia (national honor fraternity in music) and Omicron Delta Kappa (National Scholastic Leadership Fraternity)
  • He studied applied voice with Byron Wood, Lawrence Siegel, R.G. Webb, and Paul Summers.
  • His Graduate Thesis was Methods or Recognizing the Boy’s Changing Voice.
  • He is a Commissioned Officer in the US Army Transportation Corps.
  • He taught junior high and High School choir at Overland Park Christian School four years (1972—1976).
  • While at Kansas City College and Bible School he was a college instructor of applied voice, music literature, music history and literature four years (1972—1976).
  • He was the Chairman, Division of Music God’s Bible College from 1976—2010.
  • At God’s Bible College he held a full professorship in music and taught choral and instrumental music education courses, choral and instrumental conducting, applied voice and church music.
  • While teaching at God’s Bible College he also directed the College Symphonic Wind and String Ensemble, and the College Choir.
  • He traveled for thirty four years directing college musical organizations in the United States, Canada, and Northern Ireland.
  • He is currently the Chairman Emeritus of the Division of Music at God’s Bible College, teaching college adult online music courses.
  • He is an adjunct professor at Hobe Sound Bible College, and Allegheny Wesleyan College.
  • He is the author of two books: Music of the Bible in Christian Perspective and Church Music Matters, a Music Philosophy in Christian Perspective.
  • He is in demand as a public speaker on Church Music Philosophy and Music of the Bible.
